Counselling psychologist
Prior to completing my Masters degree, I worked as a Registered Counsellor and found my love for career counselling. I am passionate about people and their journeys to psychological healing. I believe that our stories shape us. It is our responsibility to choose in which way we will be shaped by our experiences and how we will make meaning out of past wounds or traumas.
I am an animal lover and adore cats especially. I enjoy reading, writing, gardening, and cooking. I also enjoy repurposing old furniture. It is the most amazing experience to take something old and worn and turn it into something beautiful.
I gravitate toward positive psychology interventions such as Solution-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I view the counselling relationship as a partnership where two people work towards a goal. I believe that people already have the strengths and gifts to navigate challenges in life but may just need someone to walk with them on their journey to self-discovery and growth.
I predominantly work within the Transactional Analysis framework which focuses on past and present relationship dynamics where the impact of past wounds creates challenges within us and as a result, impacts our relationships with others. My research and special interest lies in forgiveness and self-forgiveness.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as skills-based approaches. I have experience facilitating skills-based groups and DBT groups. I thoroughly enjoy group therapy interventions as I believe that growth and insight is maximized in groups. We can learn so much from one another and I am looking forward to learning from you!
